Ria's pretty sundress

Yesterday when we reached home, there was a surprise gift waiting for Ria at our doorstep.
Aunt Malini had sent Ria some lovely sundresses. Ria peeled off her skirt in about 2 seconds (I didn't know she could do that!!) and was ready to try out her new dresses. She loved them so much that she went to bed last night wearing one of them! She is turning out to be a fashionista.
Thanks to Aunties Shalini and Malini, I do not have to shop for any more summer clothes for Ria!

Ultra chic sunglasses

Ria has 3 pairs of sunglasses : green, white and blue. She likes to wear a different one every time.Since both Manish and I wear glasses, Ria is happy that finally she has a pair for herself!
Ria can now ride her trike effortlessly. She has learned the technique of pedalling.

Juicy red plums

Our plum tree is full of ripe juicy plums. In fact the tree cannot bear the weight and most of the branches are bent ! Ria loves to collect the plums when they fall on the ground. The plums are the sweetest that we have ever eaten!

Ria and the Terracotta Warrior

Ria used to be terrified of the Terracotta Warrior. She would scream anytime we brought him near her. Our everyday routine consisted of scolding the Terracotta Warrior several times:
"Terracotta Warrior, don't you dare scare my daughter! You stay there and do not move!
Do whatever Mummy and Ria tell you to do"

Manish managed to remove her fear. Now she has become very bold indeed as the pictures below indicate!

Ria's SpongeBob sandals

Ria is very attached to her Sponge Bob sandals. Today she was showing off in school , every passerby had to stop and admire her Sponge Bob sandals!

It's Potty time!!!

Yesterday we got a Dora potty seat and a Sponge Bob stool for Ria. Today morning morning she was very excited and couldn't wait to go potty. When she was done she got so excited, that she stepped down using the stool, ran all the way to where Manish was. She then brought him over to inspect the fantastic job she done. We were all admiration for her!.

Ria and her 'dupatta'

Ria's idea of dressing up for a party is wearing a 'dupatta'. She loves to wrap it around her shoulders and roam around.I have given her 3-4 dupattas of different colors and she is very happy.

Yummy mangoes!!

Ria simply loves mangoes. She can devour a big mango in minutes. I have never seen so much love for a fruit before. When Ria comes home from her beloved park, I have a mango shake waiting for her.

Ria's laptop lunch

I have been reading up on the food blogs and am very inspired by some of the recipes out there. Ria started going to a new Montessori school on 1st of June. I was determined to pack a nutritious lunch for her. I started searching for a little compact lunch box for her. Before long I had found the perfect lunch box at http://laptoplunches.com.

The box is made like a bento box with 4 compartments. The colors are bright and attractive. I thought it was a good way to get Ria interested in eating her lunch.

This is what i gave her on her first day :

Broccoli rice
Sliced baby carrots

Grapes & Cherry tomatoes

Parle Glucose biscuit

This is the second day menu :

Tofu Curry

Roti

Steamed cauliflower and baby carrots

Grapes and cherry tomatoes

Ria's last day at Sukhiji's daycare

May 31st was Ria's last day at Sukhiji's daycare. We had been preparing Ria for this day about 2 weeks prior.

She was eager to go to the new Montessori school. Manish and I were so used to the flexibility that Sukhiji offered that we were dreading this day.
We both took off from work early that day. Sukhiji had arranged a small farewell party for the kids. She had made a special 'kheer' for us. The kids had apple juice and cookies. Ria played with her daycare buddies for the last time.Manish and I took several pictures.
